BI Nutraceuticals Increases Echinacea Stock to Support Cold and Flu Season Demands
Derived from the Asteraceae family of flowering plants, or the "purple coneflower" plant, Echinacea is believed to be an effective booster of the immune system.
3 Dec 2009 --- BI Nutraceuticals is supporting growing consumer demand for natural immune health supplements during cold and flu season by increasing its Echinacea powder supply. BI, the leading supplier of quality raw materials and custom blends for more than 30 years, announced that it has contracted several hundred metric tons of Echinacea herb and root.
"Currently, sales of Echinacea represent approximately 10 percent of the U.S. dietary supplement market," said BI Nutraceuticals President and CEO George Pontiakos. "BI feels it imperative to have large quantities of Echinacea herb and root powders on-hand to meet increased demand and ensure a seamless production process for our customers."
Derived from the Asteraceae family of flowering plants, or the "purple coneflower" plant, Echinacea is believed to be an effective booster of the immune system. Currently, BI offers over 600 ingredients, more than 200 of which have been deemed GRAS by the FDA or FEMA, the Flavors and Extracts Manufacturers Association.
