09 May 2016 --- US company Baobab Foods Inc. are marketing their new Baobab superfruit chew to European food innovators as a nutrient and flavor-packed alternative to dried fruit ingredients.
The company are targeting European food manufacturers and private label brands seeking to bring new ideas, functionality and flavors to their dried fruit content.
Baobab Foods Inc. is the largest exporter of Baobab fruit from the southern African region, supplying high quality Organic Baobab Fruit Powder and Moringa Leaf Powder globally.
Baobab fruit is well known as a superfood, and has an impressive nutritional profile. Similar to dried fruits, BaoBites can be easily integrated into a wide variety of food products including cereals and granolas, fruit & nut mixes, nutrition bars, baking products, ice creams, used as stand-alone fruit snacks, or as a base for panned chocolate or yoghurt coatings.
However, when compared with other popular nutritious dried fruits, BaoBites contained significantly higher levels of antioxidants, dietary fiber and vitamin C than dried goji berries, blueberries, cherries and mango.

“BaoBites are a truly unique way to add natural antioxidants and a flavor punch to a variety of food products. And with our ability to subtly adjust the water activity, flavors and other nutritional ingredients, we can completely customize each order of BaoBites to suit multiple food applications and sectors, including frozen and bakery,” says Stephan Broburg, General Manager at Baobab Foods.
“Europe is a hub for clean food innovation, and we are really excited about working with European companies to explore the commercial opportunities our BaoBites can bring to their research and development pipelines.”
Made with simple natural ingredients, including wild-harvested organic Baobab Fruit Powder, real fruit concentrates and pectins, BaoBites are vegan, gluten-free, non-GMO, free of cholesterol and allergens, and contain only natural fruit sugars. They come in a variety of flavors including Pomegranate, Blueberry, Raspberry, Strawberry, Blood Orange, Tart Cherry, Meyer Lemon, even Sweet Potato, and in innovative flavor combinations such as Peach Mango, Coconut Peach Mango and Carrot Mango.

“There is no other Baobab product like BaoBites in Europe right now and the opportunities for food formulators are endless,” says Henry Johnson, European Sales Manager. “Although the concept of incorporating Baobab into a functional fruit chew is new, the feedback from food brands in the United States has been tremendous and so we are optimistic about our prospects in Europe.”
Baobab Fruit Powder is an organic, wild-harvested, raw whole food that naturally dehydrates inside the fruits of the African Baobab tree. It is exceptionally nutrient-dense, with one of the highest antioxidant profiles of any fruit on the planet. Baobab is also a rich source of vitamin C, packed with calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium, and contains 50% dietary fiber which research has shown to be prebiotic in nature.
“Baobab has been our primary business for the last five years, and Baobab Foods now exports more organic Baobab Fruit Powder from Southern Africa than any other company globally,” says Broburg.
“We believe that Baobab has reached that tipping point where it is transitioning from a health food product into the mainstream. We have seen a sharp increase in the number of food brands using Baobab as a signature ingredient and we expect this trend to grow.”
