Arthur Andrew Medical brings holistic vitamin K and D blend to market for immunity, bone and heart health
28 Sep 2020 --- US-based Arthur Andrew Medical has unveiled KD Ultra, a dietary supplement combining vitamin D3 with the “most absorbable” full spectrum blend of vitamin K2, touted as boosting immunity, as well as supporting strong bones and cardiovascular health.
The blend includes all four chains of vitamin K2 (MK4, MK6, MK7 and MK9), vitamin K1, vegan-sourced vitamin D3 and the enzyme lipase.
“KD Ultra delivers all the benefits of both vitamin D and K in a convenient single capsule. It is the first product in its category to include all four available vitamin K2 chains, and the first to contain the enzyme lipase for complete vitamin absorption,” notes Dan Curtin, executive vice president of the company.
“Taking care of our bodies is so important, especially right now, and it’s our goal at Arthur Andrew to make it easier for people to maintain their health,” he stresses.
Synergistic effects of vitamins K and D
While humans can obtain some vitamin K from food and some vitamin D from the sun, these methods are not sufficient to supply the full amount that the body needs. Over 40 percent of people are believed to be deficient in vitamin D, the company supports.
The blend includes all four chains of vitamin K2 (MK4, MK6, MK7 and MK9), vitamin K1, vegan-sourced vitamin D3 and the enzyme lipase.KD Ultra offers a complete dose of both essential vitamins in a single supplement. Studies have shown the synergistic relationship of vitamin D and vitamin K to be highly beneficial for both strong bones and cardiovascular health.
The vitamins work together to ensure calcium is absorbed into the bones while preventing calcium buildup in the blood vessels.
Additionally, vitamin K regulates proper blood clotting and vitamin D is vital for effective immune system support. The addition of the enzyme lipase helps the body properly absorb these fat-soluble vitamins.
After more than two years of R&D, the Arthur Andrew team created the optimal formula for KD Ultra. The innovative supplement offers a non-animal-based blend of vitamins D and K, using vegan vitamin D3 from lichen, a clean and natural form of this vital nutrient.
K and D vitamins NPD
The synergistic effect of vitamins K and D has been previously flagged by scientists and the supplement industry. The vitamin synergy is especially trending due to the COVID-19 pandemic bringing immunity in the spotlight.
Vitamins D3 and K2 each function more effectively in the presence of the other, according to the latest research compiled by Kappa Bioscience, manufacturer of K2 MK-7.
D3 and K2 pairing has been one of the fastest-growing and most successful product pairings, explains the company.
“As per Q1, the D3 and K2 formulation has been growing steadily worldwide, based on the individual benefits of each vitamin in mediating calcium,” a Kappa Bioscience representative previously told NutritionInsight.
Vitamins D3 and K2 are both essential vitamins required throughout life. Vitamin D3 and K2 were found to be among the few core vitamins which are frequently lacking in children’s nutrition.
Moreover, in June, Kappa Bioscience’s vitamin K2 MK-7, K2Vital, received new certification allowing it to also address the lucrative vegan market.
Meanwhile, NattoPharma partnered with KD Nutra – a KD Pharma Group company – to develop a new ingredient for cardiovascular health. The product combines KD Nutra’s KD-PüR high concentrate omega 3s with NattoPharma’s vitamin K2, called MenaQ7 PharmaPure MK-7.
This comes as NattoPharma amps up its calls for an established Recommended Daily Intake for vitamin K2. Research partners from the Norway-based company have published a paper identifying the specific activity of the vitamin.
