Airnov Healthcare Packaging expands production for “crucial” Chinese market

25 Mar 2022 --- Airnov Healthcare Packaging has reinforced its presence in the Chinese market with recent investments to expand its production capabilities across a range of product lines. 

Focusing on shelf-life preservation solutions, the controlled atmosphere packaging company’s products are designed to protect pharmaceutical, nutraceutical and diagnostic products from moisture and oxygen.

“The Chinese market continues to be of crucial importance to Airnov,” comments Albert Zhao, general manager of Airnov Asia Pacific. “It is a key reason why we have state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities operating in the cities of Changshu and Dongguan.” 

Airnov remains committed to growing its position in China having recently invested in expanding capabilities at Changshu. The modernization of the site 150 km northwest of Shanghai includes the installation of new production lines enabling the company to produce a wider range of products at greater volumes. 

These products include HAT-SNAP, which is seeing heightening demand in the rapidly expanding Chinese market.

Airnov’s dedicated diagnostic portfolio includes HAT-SNAP, HAT-IN and desiccant packets. HAT-SNAP is an active and ergonomic vial featuring a container with tamper-evident desiccant stopper. 

Meanwhile, HAT-IN is an active and ergonomic flip-top container featured with an advanced desiccant polymer (ADP) technology integrated into the vial itself. It provides a high moisture barrier, and “excellent” moisture adsorption to protect even the most sensitive test strips and nutraceutical products. 

Airnov also produces a range of desiccant packets at its Chinese facilities in Changshu and Dongguan. These facilities include the Continu-Strip packets and the rimless packets, available in a wide range of sizes. The packets are typically used in rapid tests, urinalysis strips, ELISA kits and a variety of in-vitro and clinical diagnostic devices.

Last month, Airnov introduced an environmentally sustainable packaging solution to replace plastic pails and reduce waste. The new packaging consists of cardboard from replantable trees that can be recycled or naturally decompose. 

Last year, Airnov expanded its range of Aroma-Can products to incorporate a wider range of flavors and scents. The canisters improve user experience in various food, vitamin and nutraceutical products by masking or enhancing scents. 

Furthermore, a recent study from the University of Waterloo, Canada, found that older adults are open to using smart packaging to improve their medication-taking experience. Smart packages can be used to electronically monitor when patients take their medication. When the prescription is not followed as advised by their physician, the smart system notifies patients and their caregivers.
