SternLife to introduce protein bars and meal replacements at Vitafoods 2019
18 Feb 2019 --- SternLife is set to present a “new generation” of soft, chocolate-like protein bars and a range of healthy, weight loss promoting, meal replacements at Vitafoods Europe 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland. The company is also to showcase its new line of keto-friendly powder ingredients, based on coconut-derived MCT oils that are touted as promoting weight loss, reducing body fat mass and boosting energy levels.
Protein bars soft like chocolate
According to the company, the new chocolate coated protein bars have a soft, light texture similar to confectionary bars while boasting a creamy consistency. The bars are enriched with fiber and milk protein, are low-sugar and free from soy and gluten. The concept bars to be presented at the show come in flavors such as Iced Coffee, Caramel Fudge, Strawberry Ice Cream or Salted Caramel. SternLife calls the new formulation of these bars a “permissible indulgence” that will satisfy consumers in terms of taste and offer health benefits.
Meal replacements for “ideal weight”
Another innovation to be presented at the event are SternLife’s modern meal replacement shakes which are rich in fiber and protein and promise improved satiety. They are “the successful and healthy way to your ideal weight,” according to the company, as they are low in calorie content, yet highly nutritious. Depending on people’s needs they may contain plant-based or animal protein, catering to vegan and vegetarians diets. The shakes come in flavors such as Cookies & Cream, Chocolate, Cappuccino, Vanilla, Protein Porridge, Protein Risotto and Protein Rice Pudding, as well as fruity variants like Strawberry, Apple-Cinnamon or Banana.
Supporting keto diets
SternLife is also to showcase at Vitafoods a new keto line of ingredients, targeted at health-conscious consumers and fitness enthusiasts. The company has formulated three new products based on MCT oils, derived from coconut oil, that are touted as supporting ketogenic diets and promoting weight loss and reduction of the body’s fat percentage.
The powders do not contain carbohydrates and can be easily mixed with liquids. The Ketoproof Coffee and Ketoproof Matcha Latte powders contain 5g of MCT and less than one gram of carbohydrates per portion while boasting a high fiber percentage. The caffeine included in the coffee or matcha powder fires up the metabolism and therefore these products are ideal for breakfast or for fighting afternoon drowsiness, says the company. The new Keto Protein Shake with 9g of MCT’s and less than one gram of sugar per portion completes the range, with its high percentage of protein and dietary fiber.
The company will be located at stand L56 and will additionally offer information on its new “DELUXE protein White Chocolate Cookie Dough” which also boasts high protein and delicious taste. SternLife will also present the bar at the Vitafoods Tasting Centre.
SternLife’s keto-friendly formulations tap into the high protein, high fiber and ketogenic diet trends that are expected to remain popular in 2019. Innova Market Insights reports strong growth in the percentage of new food & beverage launches with selected dietary claims (Global, 2017 vs. 2016). Over this period, a 76 percent rise was reported in “keto” product launches (from a small base), a 32 percent rise in “paleo,” a 28 percent rise in “plant-based,” 17 percent growth in “high in protein” and 14 percent growth in “vegan.”
At the same time, healthy indulgence is on every consumer’s mind and companies respond accordingly. Consumers are seeking out indulgence, without the “guilt,” and a host of manufacturers have responded to provide indulgence with added health benefits. Lighter choice options have flooded the market, from reduced sugar content to lighter alcohol options and smaller portion sizes.
