U.S. News & World Report says the Nature Made, CeraVe, and Neutrogena brands had the most category winners in its third annual Best OTC (over-the-counter) Medicines & Health Products ranking. The companies with the most number one-ranked products are Haleon, Kenvue, Prestige Consumer Healthcare, Procter & Gamble, and L’Oreal USA. By surveying almost 500 pharmacists and dermatologists, the organization ranked over 1,110 pharmaceuticals, supplements, and personal care products across 133 categories.

UNICEF has launched a program in Yemen to reduce undernutrition in women, girls, and boys. The program focuses on early childhood nutrition, maternal health, safe water, sanitation, food security, and social behavior change communication. The Accelerated Actions toward the Prevention of Undernutrition program, funded by the German Federal Government and KfW Development Bank, takes a multisectoral and preventative approach across 32 high-priority districts and 12 governorates.

This represents a significant loss of productivity and nutrients, while posing disposal challenges and costs for manufacturers.

WHO and IPC urge immediate action as one in five people in Gaza faces starvation

The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) warns that Gaza’s entire population faces high levels of acute food insecurity, with half a million people facing starvation. In its latest food security analysis for Gaza, the organization says there is a high risk of famine in the coming months. The IPC report says immediate action is essential to prevent further deaths, starvation, acute malnutrition, and famine. “This entails ending hostilities, ensuring unrestricted humanitarian access, restoring essential services and commercial flows, and providing sufficient lifesaving assistance to all in need.”

The world’s largest dairy producers and coffee chains are “turning a blind eye” to their methane emissions, despite being responsible for a large portion of one of the world’s “most potent and solvable drivers of global warming,” according to a recent investigation by industry watchdog Changing Markets Foundation (CMF).

The report audited 20 global corporations, including dairy giants like Arla Foods, FrieslandCampina, and DMK Group, and coffee chains like Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Costa Coffee. The combined annual revenues of all audited companies are over US$420 billion — more than the GDP of Denmark.

They say more research is needed to ascertain a causal link between UPF consumption and diseases or mortality.
