Chr. Hansen expands into emerging gut-brain and weight management categories
12 May 2022 | Chr. Hansen
Chr. Hansen is expanding the breadth of its portfolio in addition to reinforcing its core portfolio of gut and immune health. Recent studies have revealed the company’s strains have a positive impact on sleep in night shift workers, for example. Linda Neckmar, senior vice president for human health, also flags women’s health as the fastest growing area across regions.
This is Missy Green at Vita Foods 2022.
I'm here with Linda from Christian Hansen.
So Linda, what's going on at Christian Hansen right now and what's your strategy moving forward?
I miss him.
It's really nice to be here at Vida Foods.
We have a lot of things going on at Christian Hansen at the moment.
We are really proud of our integrated portfolio where we have both a breadth in our portfolio but also a depth.
So we have products that are covering the core areas like gut and immune, of course, but we also see interest in women's health and in emerging areas such as gut brain, weight management, heart health.
So can you go into a little bit more of those emerging areas?
Yes, so I would like to speak about the gut brain area where we have a lot of interesting data, and we've started to present the gut brain data we have during the spring.
And here at Vita Foods we speak about our DDS study, DDS1 study, where we have seen.
Good data on perceived stress in relation to gastrointestinal issues, so really connecting the gut and the brain.
And for this DDS1 strain, we have also shown studies where we have improved sleep patterns of shift workers.
So we have from two angles the gut-brain connection around the DDS1 strain.
And is that one now on the market?
That is out on the market.
Yes, it's a concept that is being presented here at Vita Foods in our booth.
And what would you say is the biggest growing category?
Currently we see a very strong growth across all regions in the women's health area, and we did acquire.
The Asara strains in the women's category 2 years ago and we also have a very strong in-house proposition in the Uex.
So between the Ux and the Eara we have a very good attraction out on the market in the women's health category.
