So Katia, what are you exhibiting at this year's show?
Yes, at this year's food ingredients.
So Omia is presenting its high purity natural calcium carbonates which are bundled under the brand Katsipur.
And products from the Kaltsipur range are supposed to be excellent fortification agents for calcium, but next to fortification, so they can be used as extrusion aids, anti-caking agents, but also as a bulk provider or as a white pigment.
So on top of that, to the range, we also supply and demonstrate the food ingredients.
Food ingredients from the distribution portfolio, which is very huge and just to name just a few of them, so we also show solutions for natural colors, yeast extracts, and also vitamins.
So with this set up, having our own brand and products from the distribution, so this allows really a holistic one-stop solution for all kinds of applications within the food and beverage industry trends.
In the market we see clearly trends in calcium fortification which is not new, of course, calcium fortification has done since a while, but we see that calcium fortification meets really current trends in dairy alternative drinks and in bone health concepts.
So for example, we have developed a concept in a plant-based beverage.
So it's an almond drink and it's fortified with calcium.
Use our calcipo in the product to enrich it with calcium to bring it to add an additional nutritional value, but also with our pool, which has a very specific structure, very specific particle size and surface properties, so it's also easy, it can be easy used to get dispersed in the product, so it gets very low sedimentation and.
It has a neutral taste and no effect on mouth feel, so this is something where we really contribute to a current trend because we see that the category of plant-based solutions is really exploding.
So they have really moved from niche into mainstream and with an added calcium.
So this gives really an additional benefit into this kind of application.
So we see a clear future here and the bone health.
Exactly.
So this is the second concept or another trend that we see where calcium fortification is of interest.
We see that bone health is a huge, a huge market demand for all age groups, not necessarily for women in menopause, but also for children, for women in their 20s, but even for men.
And so what we did, we developed a kind of bone health concept which includes calcium, but Also supporting vitamins like vitamin D3 and vitamin K2, so all is coming from our product portfolio, and the novelty of this concept is really it's a kind of ODT, so it's an orally dispersable tablet, so you can just take it on the go.
You get the calcium supplementation which is really pushing bone density and bone mass and.
We have the supporting vitamins, for example, vitamin D3 really supports or helps to maintain the absorption of calcium in the gut, and vitamin K2, in addition, really activates calcium binding proteins and therefore it helps to bring more calcium to the bones.
So this is a kind of concept which is much more complex than having just calcium as a fortification.
So it's really a tailor-made concept which can be, let's say used 1 to 1 with our customers.
OK, fantastic, yes.
And in terms of any other trends that you're seeing in the market, are looking to develop in any other areas?
Yes, we do actually.
So with our Kur range, we see also opportunities in sugar reduction.
Sugar reduction is everywhere.
We have all the commitments from the medium sized to large companies.
We have sugar taxes in every country, almost for high sugary products.
And we clearly see and there is scientific evidence that high sugar consumption is really linked to the development of non-communicable diseases like type diabetes 2.
So everybody is really into sugar reduction and with our products, so we have a solution in particular for the category of baked goods, for example, and we have one example here.
This is a cookie with a bakery icing on top, and kalipur does not contribute to the caloric value, so you can replace icing sugar, bulking sugar in the cookie, but also in the icing, and therefore you reduce significantly the sugar content.
And the caloric value of the product, so it really meets those requirements from the industry having healthy and working solutions for sugar reduction.
And of course on top you have some calcium in the product.
