Wilderness Poets launches freeze-dried acai powder with no added sugar
11 Oct 2021 ---US-based Wilderness Poets is launching an acai superfood product marketed as 100% organic without any additives and freeze-dried to preserve its antioxidants.
“Many acai products on the market are full of additives, sweeteners and other ingredients. With the launch of our Organic Acai Powder, we wanted to offer consumers acai in its purest form. Our freeze-dried acai powder contains only one ingredient – 100% organic acai berries,” John Bannerman, co-owner of Wilderness Poets, says.
Popular purple powder packed with nutrition
The acai powder is nutrition-dense, containing plant-based omega 3, anthocyanins and antioxidants, which are preserved in the freeze-drying process of the ingredient. It is also naturally low in sugar.
“Acai is an incredibly popular superfood,” Bannerman notes. They can be added to smoothies, yogurts, desserts, ice cream and even in homemade face masks.
Purple in color, acai is the size of a blueberry and is native to the rainforests of the Amazon river basin. Purple in color, acai is the size of a blueberry and is native to the rainforests of the Amazon river basin. The product retains the natural color of acai, Wilderness Poets says.

It is a new addition to the company’s organic superfood powders ranging from dragon fruit, camu camu berry, elderberry, turmeric, ceremonial and premium grade organic matcha green tea, hemp protein, as well as both coconut milk and powder.
Strong growth projected
The popularity of acai is fast growing as its beneficial compounds have given it superfood status. According to Bannerman, the acai market is slated to grow from US$722 million to over US$2.089 million by the end of 2025.
Superfoods are not only popular among consumers but are even becoming staples. In Germany for instance, a study found that 33% of participants indicated they consume superfoods at least once a week.
The COVID-19 pandemic has also expanded the scope of superfoods, with consumers looking to nutrition in a bid to boost their immunity.
Innova Market Insights has noted that ongoing anxiety stemming from COVID-19 will continue to push consumers toward prioritizing their immune health, with three in five people increasingly looking for food and beverage products that can support their immunity.
Superfoods are not only limited to health but also beauty. While the popularity of superfoods is largely focused in the Western sphere of the world, the industry is also looking to expose Chinese consumers to these products.
