Weekly Roundup: KitoZyme to exhibit exclusive range of biopolymer blends, Bifodan expands microbiology lab in Denmark
28 Sep 2018 --- The weekly roundup is NutritionInsight's collection of global nutrition stories from the past week. OmegaQuant has opened a new testing lab for the Asia-Pacific region, Bifodan has expanded with a new microbiology laboratory in Denmark and Botanic Innovations is doubling its facility size to increase production. Gnosis is positioning its VitaMK7, the vitamin K2 as Menaquinone-7 (MK7), as clean label. KitoZyme is set to exhibit its exclusive range of biopolymer blends coined You Are Wonderful (YAW), at CPHI Madrid in October.
In brief: Acquisitions, mergers and expansions
OmegaQuant, a laboratory that offers omega 3 and fatty acid testing, has opened a new testing lab in Brisbane, Australia. Established to expedite the processing of omega 3 index tests and analyses, the new facilities will serve as a hub for the entire Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Previously, all tests were routed through OmegaQuant’s US headquarters in South Dakota.
Bifodan, manufacturer of probiotic finished solutions for the nutritional industry, has expanded its capacity with a new microbiology laboratory located in Hundested, Denmark. In addition to operational support, the new 3000 square feet lab facilities will enhance the company’s innovation activities and thus expedite time to market for new products and dosing technologies – a cornerstone in Bifodans strategic focus.
US-based Botanic Innovations, whose oils are currently used in dietary supplements and personal care products, is doubling the size of its facilities to increase production, with a particular focus on its Black Raspberry Seed Oil. The oil is not readily available on the market, but as Founder and Chief Technology Officer Mark Mueller explains, “It’s a nutrient-dense oil we understand well, and an integral ingredient in two of our patented oil blends.”
In brief: Product launches and certifications
Gnosis is positioning its VitaMK7, the vitamin K2 as Menaquinone-7 (MK7), on a clean label platform. VitaMK7 is produced naturally from the patented biofermentation process of the Bacillus subtilis natto. Its clean label status touts a 99 percent content of the all-trans active isomer and contains no traces of unknown impurities, according to the company. Today the “clean label” is a recognizable value in the global market, linked with transparency, wholesomeness of the ingredients and the lack of artificial components and allergens, highlighting why the company strives to highlight this aspect of its ingredient.
KitoZyme, manufacturer of functional biopolymers, will be exhibiting its exclusive range of blends with scientifically proven effects, coined You Are Wonderful (YAW), at CPHI Madrid in October. YAW products are medical devices and food supplements that have been developed with KitoZyme’s patented ingredients KiOnutrime-CsG and KiOtransine, as well as other prebiotics and probiotics. The exhibition will also include YAW’s latest addition: YAW sleep, which is said to improve sleep naturally.
