Sensus Assesses Oligofructose Product for Weight Management
These presentations focussed on the results obtained at the University of Maastricht showing that Frutalose when consumed at 16 g/d can lower energy intake in healthy human volunteers.
8 Jan 2013 --- Recently Sensus has given a number of presentations to further show the benefits of Frutalose in the area of weight management. These presentations focussed on the results obtained at the University of Maastricht showing that Frutalose when consumed at 16 g/d can lower energy intake in healthy human volunteers.
The data were presented at the 3rd International Gut Microbiota Workshop in Maastricht (13-15 September 2012). Later that month the conference Bénéfiq 2012 was organised by the Institut des Nutraceutiques et Aliments Fonctionnels (INAF) of the University of Laval. This meeting brought together in Québec ingredient suppliers, product developers and nutritional experts from the health food industry. At the session "Obesity and weight management" we gave a lecture highlighting the application of Frutafit inulin and Frutalose oligofructose in this area.
The American Association of Cereal Chemists International organised a meeting in Hollywood, Florida. Diederick Meyer gave a lecture titled "Oligofructose lowers energy consumption in healthy humans" during the session Micro- and macronutrient digestion and health. At the same meeting Connie Lin from Sensus America presented a poster "Applying chicory root inulin to improve nutritional, functional and processing properties of whole wheat tortilla dough". At the Gut Day Symposium in Leuven we presented a poster showing the data on the effect of oligofructose on energy consumption in humans.
Not only with the presentations mentioned above but also with other publications Sensus supports and promote the benefits of inulin and oligofructose. In the recent book "Dietary Fiber and Health" that was edited by Cho and Almeida, Diederick Meyer wrote a chapter "Inulin, gut microbes and health" (p. 169-184). It is based on the Sensus presentation given at the Vahouny Dietary Fiber Symposium.
