Sensus appoints new managing director

13/05/05 Dutch based inulin and oligofructose supplier, Sensus has strengthened its management team. The company reported that as of 1st April 2005, Joep van Wessem has joined Sensus in the position of Managing Director. Over the past 20 years van Wessem has held various management positions at international companies, with a strong focus on the dairy industry. The company says that van Wessem has ample experience in Marketing & Sales of food ingredients in the B2B environment.

Sensus also noted that it is organising a series of one-day seminars for customers entitled “Weight Management through a Balanced Diet: How Glycaemic Index can contribute to Weight Management”. The overweight and obesity figures currently lead to hot debates on how to address these issues. In reply the food industry is taking its responsibility to help find solutions. Low glycaemic food appears to provide clinically proven benefits. Sensus’ Frutafit inulin and Frutalose FOS, which are non-digestible dietary fibres with a low glycaemic index, can contribute to the formulation of GI-based products.

The Sensus organised seminars provide scientific insight into the health benefits of low-GI food, discuss consumers’ interest in weight control and present application ideas using Frutafit inulin and Frutalose FOS. The programme featuring renowned guest speakers from market research organisation Leatherhead and researchers from various Universities (amongst others Prof. Stehle from University of Bonn and Prof. Anthony Leeds from University of London) is of interest to product developers, nutritionists, scientists as well as marketers and product managers and creates an excellent platform to exchange ideas on the opportunities of GI-related food. Sensus is organising seminars in the Netherlands, Germany and also in a number of Asian countries later this year.
