Rousselot Launches New Peptan Collagen Peptides for Anti-Aging and Moisturizing Topical Formulations

25 Feb 2010 --- As a major international player within the hydrolyzed collagen industry, Rousselot produces and markets its hydrolyzed collagens to the health and nutricosmetic industries. The Group announces a new Peptan Cosmetic range intended for cosmetic applications. Supported by recent studies, Rousselot is launching PeptanTM SR marine (Skin Regeneration) and Peptan MR marine (Moisture Retention), topical versions of the Rousselot nutricosmetic active principle.

New active ingredients beneficial to the skin
The new peptide active ingredient of marine origin – Peptan SR marine – actually boosts fibroblast proliferation and promotes the synthesis of collagen; the structural organization of the dermis is thus preserved:
• Tested on a culture of fibroblasts, PeptanTM SR marine utilized in a dosage of 0.1mg/ml for 24 hours induces a significant increase of 18% in the proliferation of fibroblasts by comparison with an untreated control (p=0.016). *
• Tested on a culture of fibroblasts, PeptanTM SR marine utilized in a dosage of 0.01mg/ml for 2 days induces a significant increase of 22.5% in the synthesis of collagen by comparison with a control treated with BSA (p<0.05). **
Used in a concentration of 1% in cosmetic formulations, PeptanTM SR marine is an activator of the synthesis of collagen by fibroblasts. It is thus capable of restoring the three-dimensional structure of the dermis, giving it cohesion and tonicity. Its action on the extracellular matrix of the dermis thus combats the loss of firmness which in time leads to wrinkles. Peptan SR marine has also demonstrated an antioxidant effect. .
Peptan MR marine is a natural marine biopolymer with known film-forming properties, which helps to maintain the moisture balance of the skin and provides it with NMF-specific amino acids.
