Protein pizza? Quest Nutrition launches whey based, low carb pizza
23 Jul 2018 --- Quest Nutrition has launched a “keto-friendly” frozen Thin Crust Pizza which is said to offer high protein and low net carbs due to its whey protein base. The pizza range comes along-side Quest Nutrition’s “craveable” offerings which include snacks like cookies and chips.
“Of the many high carb foods that people give up in pursuit of a healthier lifestyle, pizza is the one they miss the most,” says Suzanne Ginestro, Chief Marketing Officer at Quest Nutrition. “We are on a quest to make high protein, low carb foods that feed people's cravings, so we're thrilled to introduce this new pizza.”
The frozen pizza category has continued to grow with four in ten US consumers keeping their freezers stocked with the meal, according to the company, yet still, 50 percent of consumers think of frozen pizza as having little nutritional value. Quest Nutrition planned to solve this problem with its Quest Thin Crust Pizza.
Innova Market Insights data notes that millennials, who are tipped as a “foodie generation” are increasingly purchasing frozen foods. Meat, fish and eggs are the leading products in the frozen aisle, according to Innova Market Insights, while fruits and vegetables have experienced the most growth in the space, with a four percent growth monitored in 2017 compared to 2013.
The 9-inch pizzas are available in three flavors – 4-Cheese, Uncured Pepperoni and Supreme:
- 4-Cheese: 27 grams of protein and only 6g net carbs per serving.
- Uncured Pepperoni: 28 grams of protein and only 6g net carbs per serving.
- Supreme: 20 grams of protein and only 5g net carbs per serving.
Quest Thin Crust Pizza is available for purchase in the frozen section of select retailers and online.
