ProBiotix Health eases hypertension with new probiotic-vitamins supplement
08 Sep 2020 --- ProBiotix Health, a subsidiary company of OptiBiotix Health, has launched a tri-layer tablet called CholBiome BP positioned to aid with hypertension reduction. Initially targeting UK and European consumers with its online launch, the cardiovascular health-supporting supplement time-sensitively releases a blend of four natural ingredients that have previously been incompatible.
“Without the triple-layer tablet technology, [the ingredients] could not be ‘mixed’ together and still perform optimally. This predominantly comes from using probiotics in formulations that otherwise have their effectiveness disrupted when being combined with other active ingredients,” Mikkel Hvid-Hansen, Commercial Director at ProBiotix Health, tells NutritionInsight.
The four main ingredients are:
- Lactobacillus plantarum LPLDL: OptiBiotix Health’s patented, naturally occurring probiotic strain clinically proven to regulate the metabolism of bile acids from the liver to reduce cholesterol.
- Thiamine (vitamin B1): Plays a key role in energy metabolism in all cells and contributes to the heart’s normal function.
- L-Arginine: A semi-essential amino acid that aids in the relaxation of the endothelium – the interior layer that lines blood vessels – by increasing nitric oxide bioavailability to regulate vascular tone and contribute to vasodilation.
- CoEnzyme Q10 – Provides antioxidant properties for ATP production in cells, especially in cells with high energy requirements, such as cardiac cells, to support effective endothelial function, vasodilation and normal blood pressure.
The three-layer tablet technology allows for different release timings of thiamine and L-arginine (immediately), Lactobacillus plantarum LPLDL (after two hours) and CoEnzyme Q10 (after four to six hours).
Checking your blood pressure is key to preventative healthcare – important for younger and older consumers alike.“This enables each ingredient to be released optimally, such as LPLDL’s slower release for increased stability, survivability and effectiveness,” Hvid-Hansen comments.
It is advised that consumers discuss taking supplements with their medical professional, including those who do not have hypertension, he adds.
Expanding the CholBiome portfolio
The CholBiome range has been available in the commercial market for a few years already. “However, we have been working to expand this range to combat several key areas of cardiovascular health; namely, cholesterol and blood pressure reduction combined with daily heart health maintenance,” Hvid-Hansen maintains.
In a previous interview, he had teased the launch of Cholbiome BP. Notably, the Cholbiome range arrives in combination with probiotics and mini formats to address swallowing difficulties.
For ProBiotix, the launch of our blood pressure reducing supplement CholBiomeBP coincides with Know Your Numbers Week! – a Blood Pressure UK annual event.
“With a considerable focus on health and well-being, we want to make sure consumers are regularly checking their blood pressure – no matter their age – so they understand what’s classed as low, normal and high. It’s in everyone’s interest to get their blood pressure checked, and it’s so easy to do it from your own home with a blood pressure monitor,” Hvid-Hansen concludes.
