PLT Health Solutions Teams Up with DolCas Biotech to Market OXYSTORM Standardized Nitrate
30 Sep 2015 – PLT Health Solutions, Inc. announced that it is partnering with DolCas Biotech, LLC (Chester, NJ USA) to bring OXYSTORM Standardized Nitrate to the U.S. market. A boost to PLT’s growing Sports Nutrition portfolio, OXYSTORM is an extract of red spinach (Amaranthus dubius) – one of the richest sources of nitrate in nature. A patent-pending production process delivers the highest nitrate content ingredient from the leaves of red spinach – 9000 mg/100 g - with more than five times the amount of nitrate as beetroot powder and more than 50 times of beet juice. Offered as a powder, OXYSTORM is nutrient dense, 100% water-soluble, sugar-free and has a neutral pH, making it ideal for any formulation type.
According to Sid Hulse, Director of New Product Development at PLT Health Solutions, recent research and increasing interest in supplemental nitrate to improve health and sports performance are driving the introduction of this new ingredient. “We have seen some interesting research demonstrating the use of nitrate in the form of beet juice or beetroot powder in positively impacting vascular and muscle function via nitric oxide (NO) production during workouts or athletic competition. What we see with beetroot powder and beet juice is that they have relatively low levels of nitrate in a typical serving and that these levels can vary widely based on where and how the plants were harvested and processed,” he said. “We call OXYSTORM an optimized form of nitrate for sports nutrition applications.
