19/12/05 Orafti Liquid Sweeteners has launched Naturesweet LC a unique range of low colour organic liquid sweeteners. Three new products are available immediately: Naturesweet S 100/67 LC, Naturesweet I 33/73 LC and Naturesweet I 04/73 LC

Orafti LS note that in the past, organic sugar has been difficult to use in applications such as soft drinks where colour is critical. Similarly, high quality products with, for example, delicate fruit flavours, have been challenging.
Most organic sugar has been based on brown cane sugars, which have typical cane off-notes, and many food and beverage makers have sought an alternative. ORAFTI Liquid Sweeteners now offers Naturesweet LC, a full range of low colour organic sweeteners which are crystal clear in soft drinks and which have a clean sweet taste, making them the perfect organic sweetening solutions for all applications.

The colour of sugar solutions is measured in ICUMSA units. Conventional organic syrups have an ICUMSA rating of between 300 and 600 units. Solutions of white sugar are at the other end of the scale, with ICUMSA ratings of about 35. Naturesweet LC gets very close to white sugar solutions, with an ICUMSA rating of 50.
