Nexira to Reveal Raft of NPD at Vitafoods
28 Apr 2015 --- Nexira, which specialises in natural ingredients and botanical extracts for food, nutrition and dietary supplements, will reveal a raft of innovation at this year’s Vitafoods exhibition.
The company will be set to talk to partners about its Enostim product, which it describes as a “new solution for men’s health”.
Nexira will also present Exocyan, an extensive range of cranberry extracts, and also new natural solutions for joint health and menopause. In addition, the company will also present results showing that its Fibregum product has beneficial effects on gut health.
Enostim:
Nexira explains that erectile dysfunction concerns 52% of men between 40 and 70 years of age. Nitric Oxide (NO) pathway is the cornerstone of vasodilation mechanism allowing penile erection. The NO pathway is the most targeted lever to help organic’s causes of erectile dysfunctions.
At Vitafoods Nexira will launch a new natural solution in sexual enhancement: Enostim. It is a unique and proprietary formulation of active ingredients, apple and grape polyphenols, enriched with saffron. It has been specifically developed to offer a natural and safe solution for erectile dysfunction.
Enostim offers three synergistic benefits:
• Stimulation of Nitric Oxide production: Vasodilation is linked to the production of NO by an enzyme called eNOs (endothelial Nitric Oxide synthase). In vitro and ex vivo studies show that Nexira’s proprietary formulation activates eNOS which conducts to an increase of vasodilation up to 50%.
• Saffron benefits: Since antiquity, saffron (flower stigmas from Crocus sativus) has been used in traditional medicine. It was already consumed as an aphrodisiac by ancient Persians and Egyptians. More recently, saffron’s ability to prevent erectile dysfuntion has been demonstrated in several clinical studies. In Europe, saffron benefits from the pending claim (ID 2427): “Improves erection and relaxes muscles” (Styli cum Stigmatis Crocus sativus: 28mg/day).
• Nitric Oxide protection: Nitric Oxide has a short lifespan and can be degraded by superoxide free radical. EnoSTIM antioxidant molecules showed in a in vivo study, its potential to specifically protect NO from oxidation decreasing oxidative stress by 74%.
Exocyan:
At Vitafoods Nexira will also present Exocyan, its most extensive range of cranberry extracts reaching up to 90% PACs (proanthocyanidins).
Cranberry polyphenols are widely recognized for their benefits in preventing urinary tract infections. Exocyan is a unique range of cranberry extracts (Vaccinium macrocarpon) standardized in polyphenols (proanthocyanidins – PACs) and developed by Nexira.
Thanks to 20 years of experience producing cranberry extracts, Nexira guarantees a strong expertise in raw material identification and purification especially.
In a continuous effort to improve our raw material qualification, Nexira has developed a proprietary method of analysis to guarantee the botanical identity of the cranberries. This UHPLC (Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography) method of identification allows to characterize cranberry profile and determine potential adulteration by other raw material sources (grapes, other berries, etc.).
In several cases this method has helped us and our customers to reveal the presence on the market of adulterated cranberry extracts.
Nexira controls the whole supply-chain from the raw material to the finished product. Long-term partnerships with selected growers guarantees reliable cranberry sources. Water extraction and column purification are done in our facility located in the South of France near Bordeaux. Rigorous quality control processes ensure the potency and purity of our extracts at each step of the manufacturing.
Our R&D team recently set the bar even higher by reaching a highly purified extract standardized at 90% PACs Bate-Smith and 20% PACs BL-DMAC.
Exocyan can be used in a wide range of applications and in all delivery systems such as tablets, capsules, beverages, toothpaste, etc. A low sugar content and controlled acidity allow formulations with limited impact on taste for a better acceptability. Also available in organic certified grades, it is perfectly suitable for the formulation of clean label products. French decree documentation is available for the entire range.
Join health and menopause solutions:
Nexira is expanding its range of devil's claw extract standardized up to 20% in harpagoside(s), traditionally recognized for their benefits in joint health. Joint pains are one of the main source of elderly loss of mobility. Thanks to its experience in the sourcing of this wild African species, Nexira offers one of the range with the highest standards available on the market.
Nexira will also present a new product on the neutraceutical market standardized in diosgenin and derived from the Balanites aegyptiaca species, commonly known as desert date.
The desert date grows in arid regions of tropical Africa which fruits are consumed by local populations as a sweet. The kernels are used to produce edible oil that is also used today in the cosmetic industry.
This new ingredient offers a new source of diosgenin to the dietary supplement industry recognized for its benefits in menopause. Gently extracted with water, the ingredient is produced in Nexira’s state of the art factory in the South of France.
Fibregum:
Finally, Fibregum an all-natural, organic and GMO free source of soluble dietary fiber, obtained from carefully selected acacia gum and which offers a guaranteed minimum of 90% soluble fiber with proven prebiotic benefits, exceptional digestive tolerance and low caloric value.
Nexira will be presenting results showing that Fibregum has a beneficial effects on gut health. A study recently published shows that Fibregum is gradually fermented in the transverse and distal colon.
The resulting improved intestinal tolerance is most notably due to the slow fermentation of Fibregum by the gut microflora, making Fibregum a solution for those who want to increase fiber diet content and for those with high digestive discomfort like IBS or fructose malabsorption.
Fibregum’s popularity continues to grow as a natural way to help improving intestinal well-being and as a nutrient to promote a healthy equilibrium of gut microflora.
