People of all ages require Omega-3 in their diet to maintain good physical and mental health. The new USDA Guidelines recommend total fat intake to be between 20 to 35 percent of calories for both polyunsaturated (Omega-3 DHA) and monounsaturated fatty acids. In children, research indicates that low Omega-3 DHA consumption is linked to learning and behavior problems, including ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder), ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) dyslexia and dyspraxia.(1) Regularly eating a diet of foods enriched with Omega-3 DHA can reduce instances of these health problems in children.(2)(3)
Nu-Mega Ingredients produces microencapsulated Omega-3 DHA from tuna fish oil. Sourced in the pristine waters of the South Pacific using only dolphin safe fishing methods, Nu-Mega ensures low residual levels of pesticides and other harmful contaminates. And all facilities are ISO/HACCP accredited for developing the highest quality products.
Nardone Bros. Baking, Inc. introduced its Omega-3 DHA Pizza at the annual School Nutrition Association convention in Baltimore, MD, July 17-21, 2005. Working with Nu-Mega Ingredients, the company developed a whole meal pizza that delivers 32mg per serving of Omega-3 DHA.
