Monsanto to launch two biotech crops in India

26/05/05 Two biotechnology crops, Bollbard II Cotton and Yield Gard Corn, will be launched in India soon, a top official of US-based Monsanto company said.

The two crops will have enhanced spectrum of insect control and also improved quality of yield, Dr Robert T Fraley, Chief Technology Officer, Monsanto company said, speaking on "Agriculture Biotechnology: Growing Options- Helping Farmer Grow Our Food" here.

With Europe, Asia and Latin America going the biotechnology way, "biotechnology is the future for Indian farmers to meet the growing challenges of food security in the face of increasing population," he said.
