Lonza CHI receives NutraStrong Collagen Verified certification
SGS Nutrasource has awarded Lonza Capsules & Health Ingredients (CHI) with NutraStrong Collagen Verified certification for its UC-II undenatured type II collagen, used in joint health supplements.
This collagen verification program is the first independent certification system that evaluates and verifies the identity, source, safety, and quality of collagen ingredients and products. The certification aims to ensure consumers receive what is claimed on the label.
“This coveted certification verifies that UC-II collagen meets the highest standards of purity, source integrity, manufacturing excellence, and claim substantiation and will help this breakthrough product stand out in an increasingly saturated market,” says Kevin Yan, VP of Product Certifications at SGS Nutrasource.
The certification is designed to guard against companies making misleading claims or inaccurate or false certificates of analysis, preventing such products from being sold alongside premium brands.
Low-dose efficacy
Human clinical trials demonstrate that a small dose (40 mg) of Lonza CHI’s UC-II undenatured type II collagen ingredient supports joint comfort, flexibility, and mobility. The ingredient works with the body’s natural processes to promote normal cartilage building.
The ingredient’s low dose and versatility make it suitable for different formats, such as small capsules or gummies.

Hanna Charron, associate director, Global Product Management of UC-II at Lonza CHI adds: “Achieving the NutraStrong Collagen Verified certification for UC-II collagen underscores our commitment to delivering clinically studied, high-quality ingredients that brand owners, and ultimately consumers, can trust.”
“This certification is another way we demonstrate our dedication to transparency, scientific rigor, and excellence from raw material sourcing through to finished product formulation.”
Collagen industry stewardship
The Collagen Stewardship Alliance (CSA) endorses the NutraStrong Collagen Verified program SGS Nutrasource says this reflects growing industry alignment around the need for trusted, transparent, and effective collagen solutions.
“The CSA’s mission is to foster responsible growth of the global collagen category, and the Collagen Verified program plays a vital role in this effort by recognizing suppliers and brands that do the right things by prioritizing quality, efficacy, and transparency. This is about elevation and driving transparency in this category,” says Len Monheit, executive director at the CSA.
Last May, Bioiberica was the first collagen manufacturer to achieve NutraStrong Collagen Verification for its native (undenatured) type II collagen, Collavant n2, for mobility.
SGS Nutrasource also offers other certifications, such as the NutraStrong Prebiotic Verified certification. Tagatose producer Bonumose and distributor ASR Group’s monosaccharide sweetener became the first ingredient to receive this independent certification, endorsing the product’s ability to nourish beneficial gut bacteria and promote digestive health.
