Kanebo Foods extracts polyphenol from chestnut skin

Experiments confirm that the extracted polyphenol powder has a property to suppress the glucose level.
04/10/05 Kanebo Foods has established a method to extract polyphenol from chestnut skin. The new method, which is based on heat extraction using ethanol, can extract polyphenol at a high concentration level. The extracted powder is proanthocyanidin, a kind of polyphenol found in red fine and grape seeds. |
Further, in the recent mice experiments, the company has confirmed that the extracted polyphenol powder has a property to suppress the glucose level. Details of these findings is to be presented at the Kansai region meeting of the Japan Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Agrochemistry to be held on September 30 and October 1.
