01/05/09 Heartland Sweeteners LLC in conjunction with Ganeden Biotech has developed the world's first probiotic sweetener, Nevella with Probiotics, which is designed to boost the immune system and promote digestive health. Additionally, according to a recently published study, the probiotic in Nevella has been shown to provide some protection against certain strains of influenza.

With no calories, Nevella with Probiotics is a healthy alternative to sugar and is a great sugar replacement in coffee, tea and baked goods.

The partnership between Heartland Sweeteners and Ganeden Biotech, which makes the patented probiotic bacteria, GanedenBC30, was announced in March. GanedenBC30 is uniquely able to survive manufacturing and baking temperatures and maintain the health benefits of bacteria in the digestive tract. Nevella with Probiotics is the first product created by the collaboration. Other offerings are in the works.
