Horn Launches Ingredients for Heart Health and Weight Management
09 Oct 2014 --- HORN, one of North America’s premier distributors of specialty ingredients, today launched two new innovative ingredients for heart health and weight management. OPtain120 and ChalCurb are clinically-proven innovations debuting at SupplySide West 2014 in Las Vegas, Oct. 8-9 and will be exclusively distributed in North America by HORN Nutraceuticals, the industry source for science-based innovations and best-in-class ingredients.
“HORN is dedicated to the procurement of cutting-edge ingredients for progressive marketers in the nutraceuticals industry,” said Xiaoming “Sandy” Chien, PhD, vice president, HORN Nutraceuticals. “The introduction of OPtain120 and ChalCurb in North America addresses two health topics that are dramatically affecting the majority of the adults in the U.S. today. With clinical studies supporting efficacy and safety of these products, HORN upholds our commitment to aiding finished product marketers in delivering natural solutions that address the most concerning health challenges.”
An estimated 67 million adults in the U.S. have high blood pressure, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Commonly known as a “silent killer,” high blood pressure poses few warning signs or symptoms and yet, it significantly increases the risk of heart disease and stroke, which are respectively the first and third leading causes of death in the U.S.
OPtain120 is a safe and efficacious ingredient that addresses the hypertension endemic in the U.S. A patented combination of onion and pumpkin extracts, OPtain120 is clinically proven to reduce high blood pressure and support a healthy heart. Recent clinical studies in the U.S. and Japan of OPtain120 demonstrated systolic blood pressure reduction by six percent and diastolic blood pressure reduction by four percent with evidence of efficacy in as little as five days.
An angiotensin-converting-enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, OPtain120 suppresses production of angiotensin II, which decreases the peripheral resistance and blood volume, thereby reducing blood pressure. Vasodilation also occurs as OPtain120 increases nitric oxide production, therefore increasing the diameter of the blood vessels and reducing blood pressure. Manufactured in Japan by Ryusendo, OPtain120 is a safe, natural product that uses hot water extraction with no harsh chemicals.
Visceral fat is sparsely discussed in today’s market. However, this toxic fat also known as the abdominal fat tucked in between the internal organs not only affects weight but poses increased health risks such as diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and stroke.
Manufactured by Japan Bio Science Laboratory, ChalCurb is backed by two clinical studies that demonstrated its effect on reducing visceral fat by 10 percent in just eight weeks. Results were measured via computed tomography (CT) scan. ChalCurb supports leptin and adiponectin production which affect satiety, lipid metabolism and glucose regulation.
In clinical studies, reduction in subcutaneous fat, weight, body mass index (BMI), waist and hip circumference also were observed.
Derived from the dried sap of the Ashitaba plant (angelica keiskei), no water or solvents were used in the manufacturing of ChalCurb.
