Health-conscious sodas: Immunity-boosting Mighty Pop makes a splash in the US
07 Nov 2023 --- Global bev-tech company Beliv, in collaboration with the Mariposa Group, has unveiled Mighty Pop within the US market. The functional organic beverage is an organic plant-powered soda with pre-, pro- and postbiotics support immune health.
Coined the “Mighty 3,” the soda supports digestive and immune health and is lightly sweetened with agave. Each serving contains one billion live probiotic cultures, 3 g of sugar and 3 g of fiber from the acacia plant.
“Consumers of all backgrounds crave great flavors and goodness in the better-for-you beverage space and Beliv’s latest soda innovation embodies our commitment to natural, healthful and sustainable products that burst with flavor and stand on the cutting edge,” says Clayton Santos, director of R&D, Beliv.
Protein, nutrients and nutraceuticals featured in ready-to-drink and ready-to-mix drinks at the Vitafoods expo in Geneva, Switzerland, earlier this year. The show focused on functional ingredients such as astaxanthin, calcium, carotenoids, vitamins and next-generation protein solutions.
Fierce fruity flavors
The USDA-certified pop comes in strawberry hibiscus, berry lime, grapefruit pineapple and orange vanilla flavors, contains 30 calories per can and helps positively modulate the microbiome. The initial production sold out in a month, the company claims.
“Beliv created a unique formulation that’s progressive for the soda category, the first of its kind to advance pre-, pro- and postbiotics,” says Santos.
Mighty Pop comes in four mixed fruit flavors.
“Mighty Pop is the latest example of how innovative products can be nurtured and brought to market quickly. Nuanced nostalgia
Mighty Pop joins Beliv’s roster of beverage brands available in the US across various categories, including Petit (nectar), Oca (organic plant-based energy), Güitig (globally awarded volcanic sparkling water), Big Easy (kombucha and functional shots) and High Brew (cold brew coffee), the company’s latest acquisition.
“Spanning brands that evoke familiarity, authenticity and nostalgia like Petit and Güitig to those that are ahead of health and consumer trends like Mighty Pop, Beliv’s portfolio is on track for explosive growth in the US,” says Reinaldo Padua, chief brand officer, Beliv.
Meanwhile, Kirin Beverage’s newly released plan for this year centers around a rising emphasis on health and wellness among consumers, indicating the brand is shifting away from its traditional beverage lineup. Key focus areas include sustainable branding and strengthening its information channels to “instill an ‘immune care’ habit in consumers.”
