“Farm-to-Finish”: Asiros Nordic’s berry powders for supplements and functional F&B
24 Jul 2024 --- Danish grower of Nordic berries, Asiros Nordic, unveils its latest prebiotic berry juice powders, BerryShield. According to the berry manufacturer and supplier, the berries are “polyphenol-fingerprinted” by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) technology for authentication.
The berry juice powders include aronia, elderberry, lingonberry, tart cherry and red and black currant. Moreover, the company states the concentrated juices are dried into a fine powder for easy incorporation into products, such as dietary supplements and foods and beverages (F&B) applications.
Additionally, the ingredients can be used in a wide variety of delivery formats, including gummies, capsules, soft gels, tablets, stick packs and sachets, as well as for functional F&Bs. Asiros Nordic says it is currently working with flavor companies to create “turnkey” products for powders and liquid shots.
“We believe that these NMR-authenticated powders will be a valuable addition to the dietary supplement and functional food-and-beverage markets,” says Asiros Nordic’s CEO, Jan Kuhlmann.
Authenticated and transparent
Asiros Nordic points out that Nordic berries are native to the Scandinavian and Danish regions and are known for their quality.

The polyphenol-rich powders are vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free and suitable for a wide range of dietary needs. The company says it also controls all aspects of cultivation, from “farm-to-finish,” allowing it to monitor everything from the quality of the field to the finished product, offering customers transparency and traceability.
“Our vertical integration starts with carefully hand-selected berries that are harvested at the peak of ripeness from local farmers in Denmark and the forests of Sweden, followed by a proprietary low-temperature process that ensures that the natural nutrients, bioactive compounds, including polyphenols, and flavors of the berries are preserved.”
Furthermore, the company states that the NMR, which many researcher scientists state is the most accurate analytical tool used for botanical identification testing to ensure purity, ensure authenticity, consistency and defends against adulteration.
