Beef extract obtained from cooking process may boost exercise performance, mice study finds 

13 Nov 2018 --- An extract obtained by cooking beef could improve exercise performance and lessen post-exercise fatigue, a mice study published in Nutrients has found. The study sought to evaluate the potential beneficial effects of beef extract on exercise performance, as well as the related role of the gut microbiota. Although the extract was found to improve exercise performance by preserving muscle glycogen, it was independent of any relationship with the gut microbiota.

Healthy boost: DSM’s “very good” Q3 benefits from “exceptional temporary vitamin price environment”

31 Oct 2018 --- Boosted by elevated vitamin prices and higher sales, DSM has reported a “very good” Q3, with strong organic sales growth in underlying business coming in at 8 percent for the first nine months of the year and a 11 percent rise in Q3 core profit to US$460.4 million.

Provexis optimism on future sports nutrition health claim for tomato extract

23 Oct 2018 --- Provexis’ patented tomato extract has increasingly moved into sports nutrition applications, with Niamh O’Kennedy, Director of R&D, noting she is “optimistic” for a future sports nutrition health claim. DSM markets Provexis' tomato extract as Fruitflow, which has over 30 platelet compounds and is said to counteract the adverse effects of over-exercise on inflammation. Such effects of exercise are not understood enough by those who perform at high levels, such as professional athletes and marathon runners, O’Kennedy explained at the Food Valley Summit, held in Wageningen, the Netherlands on October 10th.
