Cognis PharmaLine Achieves Kosher Certification
This range of high-purity oleochemical-derived excipients is suitable for many different pharmaceutical applications and includes tableting aids, drug delivery agents, and customized excipients.
16/05/08 In the globalized world of today, manufacturers of consumer healthcare products have to take local and cultural sensitivities into account more than ever before when marketing their products in different countries. For many products exported to the USA, Israel, and other countries, kosher certification is an important quality requirement and a demand of health-conscious consumers. Cognis always strives to help its customers serve diverse markets around the world, and meet the needs of the greatest possible variety of consumers – and as part of these efforts, the company’s Nutrition & Health strategic business unit recently obtained kosher certification for its PharmaLine products.
Kosher certification is an essential purchasing criterion for millions of consumers of food and healthcare products around the world, particularly for adherents of the Jewish faith. Kosher certification is also seen as a sign of quality by many consumers, especially in the USA. To help manufacturers of cough syrups, toothpastes and other orally administered products serve this market, Cognis has expanded its portfolio of kosher certified excipients to include PharmaLine. This range of high-purity oleochemical-derived excipients is suitable for many different pharmaceutical applications and includes tableting aids, drug delivery agents, and customized excipients.
A total of 56 PharmaLine products have been certified as kosher for passover by a representative of Kosher Germany, a respected certification body. They are produced under strict supervision, and their kosher status can be referred to in manufacturers’ marketing activities. Furthermore, only plant derived and synthetic raw materials are used during production. Comments Thomas Rosen, Global Product Line Manager Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare: “Certification adds further value to our excipients and is one more way that we are helping our customers to meet the demanding requirements of today’s pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare markets.”
