Chr. Hansen Introduces Probiotics and Fiber Concept for Improved Digestive Health
Responding to a growing demand from the dietary supplements industry Chr. Hansen's new offering paves the way for powerful supplements containing documented probiotics and fibers.
11 May 2010 --- In a move to support dietary supplements producers who wish to help people tackle constipation, the Danish bioscience company launches a concept combining efficacious probiotics and beneficial fibers. "We are experiencing an increased demand in this product area," says Charlotte Beyerholm, Marketing Manager, Human Health & Nutrition, Chr. Hansen. "Constipation is a widespread health concern globally. 12 percent of people worldwide suffer from self-defined constipation according to a 2006 global omnibus study involving 13,900 individuals."
"We have documented effect on constipation with some of our premium probiotic strains, e.g. BB 12", says Beyerholm. "Together with carefully select fibers, we have an excellent combination to tackle constipation", she continues. The ingredients combination represents an attractive "2 in 1" or "double action" product. The supplement format is a 6 g stick with powder to be sifted over breakfast cereals or poured into a glass of water daily or twice a day.
