Beauty and brains: PhytoGaia’s palm-based phytonutrients to take center stage at Vitafoods Asia
07 Sep 2023 --- PhytoGaia is set to present the science behind its palm-based phytonutrients as well as application versatility at Vitafoods Asia in Bangkok, Thailand (September 20-22), during two separate Nutra Focus sessions.
Bryan See, the company’s VP, will present on “Beauty foods’ secret ingredient: Unveiling the power of palm phytonutrients (squalene + tocotrienols)” on September 20 at 13:00 ICT and “Tocotrienols safeguarding cognitive health and brain vitality” on September 22 at 14:00 ICT.
We sit down with Dr. Ariati Aris, PhytoGaia’s scientific affairs specialist, and discuss the upcoming presentation sessions.
“We are excited to share a sneak peek of the specific scientific insights that Mr. Bryan See will be presenting during his sessions at the Nutra Focus session,” Aris tells Nutrition Insight.
“See will speak in two slots, each delivering valuable information and knowledge in the fields of nutraceuticals and skin care related to our branded ingredient – TocoGaia and STGaia, respectively.”
Beauty-from-within benefits
In the first presentation, See will explore the synergistic benefits of its squalene and tocotrienols solution, STGaia, for hair and skin care. According to PhytoGaia, the product can be used in oral and topical applications.
Tocotrienol and squalene have both been shown to have various health benefits, including anti-aging and antioxidant effects.
“These novel synergistic ingredients offer unique biological activities that can rejuvenate and nourish the skin and hair from the inside out,” says Aris.
“Attendees can expect to learn about the solid science behind these benefits, including their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, and how they can be harnessed to achieve radiant and healthier appearances for both skin and hair.”
He further reveals that, while squalene and tocotrienols are commonly used individually in topical and oral cosmetic products, STGaia marks the first natural plant-based extract to unite these two synergistic phytonutrients as a complex.
Nootropics for cognitive boosts
See will also delve into the impact of PhytoGaia’s TocoGaia palm tocotrienol complex on cognitive health and support, especially among the aging population.
A recent meta-analysis linked supplementation of a palm tocotrienols and tocopherol complex with the reduction of HbA1c in people living with Type 2 diabetes, which has also been linked to changes in cognition.
“Tocotrienols – a unique form of vitamin E – have been the focus of extensive brain research and he will share the scientific findings on how these compounds can support and enhance cognitive functions,” Aris explains.
“Attendees can expect to gain insights into the potential role of tocotrienols in cognitive support and how they may contribute to protecting the brain and improving cognitive health. These sessions promise to be informative, inspiring and invaluable for those seeking to stay at the forefront of these dynamic fields.”
Continuing science
Aris also highlights that supplement producers can have confidence in the scientific-backed benefits of PhytoGaia’s branded ingredients.
“At the moment, there are five ongoing human clinical trials with TocoGaia or STGaia,” he concludes. “We are excited to share the details with the attendees and technical literature is available at our booth to provide the scientific support that formulators need in order to make informed decisions about incorporating these ingredients into their products.”
