Arjuna Natural’s Shoden Ashwagandha receives Non-GMO Project verification
Producer of standardized botanical extracts, Arjuna Natural, reveals its clinically studied Ashwagandha extract, Shoden, has received Non-GMO Project Verification. The nonprofit carried out a rigorous evaluation that aims to safeguard the non-GMO food supply.
The Non-GMO Project Verification process evaluates documentation such as certificates of analysis, sourcing records, and manufacturing practices to ensure compliance with the highest standards of GMO avoidance.
According to the nonprofit, more than 66,000 brands and 100,000 SKUs are now Non-GMO Project Verified, which it says reflects the growing consumer demand for transparency and sustainability in their product choices.
“By attaining Non-GMO Project verification, our newly ‘Verified’ brands are demonstrating their proactive commitment to safeguarding the non-GMO food supply,” says Megan Westgate, the executive director of the Non-GMO Project. “This collective endeavor propels us closer to a food system that is both transparent and ethically conscientious.”
Clinically-backed benefits
Arjuna Natural says Shoden stands out in the market as an effective and bioavailable ashwagandha extract, standardized to 35% withanolide glycosides — the key active compounds in Ashwagandha.
Moreover, Shoden is effective at a low 60 mg dose, making it a potent option for use in dietary supplements, functional beverages, and food products. Its proven benefits, backed by nine published studies, include support for improved sleep, immune health, men’s vitality, and cognitive function. A recent study also found it may help reduce cortisol levels and stress.

The company also recently received a stress and sleep-aid endorsement from Health Canada. At the same time, we talked with Arjuna Natural’s joint managing director about the EU’s ongoing scrutiny of Ashwagandha’s safety.
“Today’s consumers expect effective, high-quality ingredients backed by third-party certification,” reveals Keely Johnson, Arjuna Natural’s VP of sales and marketing. “This certification further reinforces our ongoing commitment to responsible practices in transparency, ingredient integrity, and consumer trust.”
