Algatechnologies Introduces Vegetarian Astaxanthin Beadlet

23/03/06 Algatechnologies has launched an advanced form of astaxanthin beadlet as part of its AstaPure line. This nutrient is completely natural and free of animal products, and was developed recently for the dietary supplements market.
Thanks to the growing demand for vegetarian products in the nutraceuticals market and to the increasing consumer concern regarding beef-derived products, Algatechnologies has developed gelatin-free astaxanthin beadlets for tablets or hard shell capsules.

Japan is by far the leading country in astaxanthin consumption. The market growth for astaxanthin in 2005 exceeded 15% in Japan. “The Japanese market for astaxanthin is growing rapidly compared to the US and the European markets,” explains Efrat. "We intend to educate our customers in Europe and the USA about the benefits of astaxanthin health in general and of AstaPure in particular. The 2% Astaxanthin beadlets are our entrance ticket to the European market.”
Algatechnologies, a producer of natural astaxanthin for human consumption, developed an exclusive and patented closed system for the cultivation of the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis. This technology is claimed to allow the production of the most advanced and extremely pure product that has the highest concentration of astaxanthin.
The new microencapsulated natural astaxanthin is extracted by using a Supercritical CO2 extraction technique, embedded in a matrix of alginate. The AstaPure line complies with very high standards of microbiology counts, it is Kosher and GMO free.
