Alcohol dependency quicker in women- study

Ailments like heart problems, depression and liver disease also develop faster in alcohol consuming women.
17/05/05 German researchers suggest that women become dependent on alcohol quicker and suffer adverse effects faster than men.
A study led by University of Heidelberg found heart problems, depression and liver disease developed earlier in female drinkers. The study was reported in the journal Alcoholism
A spokesman for England's Institute of Alcohol Studies said the results are "particularly concerning" given rising alcohol consumption by women in England.
