Weekly Roundup: Evolva launches resveratrol for pets, BASF sells manufacturing site to One Rock Capital Partners

BASF completed the sale of its manufacturing site in Kankakee, Illinois, to Kensing, a newly founded affiliate of One Rock Capital Partners. The agreement also covers the Kankakee site’s associated businesses, which include vegetable-oil-based raw material sterols and natural vitamin E, anionic surfactants and esters. The financial details have not been disclosed.
Manipal Natural will open a nutraceutical and herbal extract manufacturing facility in Bangalore Rural’s Dabaspet Industrial area in India. Dietary and food supplement manufacturers worldwide will use this facility to produce standardized herbal extracts, phytochemicals, organic herbal extracts and nutraceutical components.

Goli Nutrition has added Goli Ashwa Gummies to its product line, manufactured with “the world’s most powerful” full-spectrum ashwagandha. After ten days on the market, the product sold out at a rate of 200 bottles per minute and rose to the top of Amazon’s multivitamin category. Goli Ashwa Gummies are manufactured with KSM-66 ashwagandha, a full-spectrum ashwagandha root extract with a high concentration.
Evolva is debuting Veri-te Pets resveratrol. This novel use of Veri-te resveratrol is intended for companion animal nutritional supplements, including for dogs, cats and horses. The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), a trade group representing the dietary supplement industry, presented a citizen petition to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) over the agency’s objection to N-acetylcysteine (NAC) in nutritional supplements. The petition was written in response to a letter CRN wrote to the FDA after the agency issued warning letters, implying a sudden policy shift in which NAC is no longer considered a legal dietary supplement ingredient.
The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) filed a letter to US Trade Representative Katherine Tai, demanding the elimination of punitive tariffs on various herbal products. These tariffs, which were part of a series of trade actions taken during the previous administration, have substantially influenced herbal ingredient supply chains and product packaging. While the “Phase One” trade agreement between China and the US reduced some tariffs last year, many commodities utilized by the herbal products industry still face higher ad valorem tax rates of up to 25 percent.
