Vitiva Launches URSOLE for Supplements and Cosmetics Applications
Ursolic acid has proven to be biologically active both topically and internally. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-tumourous, and antimicrobially properties.
02/02/06 Slovenian based Vitiva, has introduced URSOLE, an advanced formulation for hair and skin care, containing 45% ursolic acid and its isomer oleanolic acid. The new product was developed for the dietary supplements and cosmeceutical markets.
Ursolic acid has proven to be biologically active both topically and internally. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-tumourous, and antimicrobially properties. Vitiva anticipates that URSOLE will be used in dietary supplements or in cosmetics products where an additional health benefit is desirable.
URSOLE is produced in a technologically-innovative extraction process from selected fresh rosemary leaves. “The result is a cost-efficient production of highly concentrated URSOLE”, explains Mr. Ohad Cohen, Vitiva’s CEO. “This remarkable product offers great opportunities for nutraceuticals and cosmeceuticals producers in several applications.”
The blend is very stable and thus suitable for a wide range of skin and hair care formulations. In hair care products, URSOLE is design to enhance hair growth and prevent scalp irritation, alopecia and dandruffs. Ursolic acid can also be used for photo-aged skin treatment and has significant ability to suppress the production of UV-A induced reactive oxygen species and lipid peroxidation. Therefore, URSOLE blends are appropriate for cosmetic products designed to protect the skin from cell damage caused by oxidative stress and free radicals, and to provide skin and hair with anti-aging and anti-inflammatory effects.
Ursolic and oleanolic acids are triterpenoid compounds present in a large number of herbs and plants and are used in many traditional medicines.
