Non GMO Project Verification for Ganeden
16 Sep 2016 --- Probiotic company, Ganeden, has earned Non-GMO Project Verification for its product, GanedenBC30. The international ingredient manufacturer worked with the Non-GMO Project to put its probiotic strain through rigorous third-party evaluation, confirming that the ingredient is completely non-GMO.
Mike Bush, president of Ganeden and executive board president of the International Probiotics Association, said: “The proper labeling of GMOs has been in the spotlight over the past several years,” said Mike Bush, president of Ganeden and executive board president of the International Probiotics Association.
“Ganeden wants to ensure that manufacturers and consumers alike are aware that the use of GanedenBC30 ensures transparency, compliance with laws and peace of mind. Becoming Non-GMO Project Verified is yet another example of our dedication to the probiotic market, our partners and their customers.”
Speaking about the Non-GMO verification process with NutritionInsight, Bush added, “As it should be, it is a complex process involving a great deal of detail relating to all steps and processes required to manufacture a finished product – or in the case of GanedenBC30 – an ingredient.”?
“The team at the Non-GMO project and their auditors were great to work with as we all had a good bit to learn about the difference between verifying a finished product, that may contain a probiotic, and a probiotic ingredient itself.”
Ganeden has been a driving force in promoting education and transparency around high-quality food and beverage ingredients. GanedenBC30 has also been certified kosher, halal, gluten-free, completely allergen free, and most recently, was found to enhance protein utilization and help with muscle recovery.
“As labeling legislation evolves from the Vermont GMO labeling laws to new federal GMO labeling laws and beyond, we wanted to make sure that we are ahead of legislative changes, as much as anyone can be, so that our food and beverage partners can rest assured that GanedenBC30 is a fully compliant ingredient,” explained Bush.
“As we did with FDA GRAS, the development of a USP monograph and other industry firsts, we want to make sure that we make the decision to use GanedenBC30 in a food or beverage an easy one as all of the relevant boxes are checked. With GanedenBC30: Kosher, Halal, allergen free, gluten free, made in the USA and now Non-GMO – are all boxes that can be checked.”
The company now has over 120 patents and 24 peer reviewed and published studies on the probiotic strain, which have been reviewed by dozens of leading authorities in probiotics, microbiology and digestive and immune health.
