Herbalife launches litramine-infused product to “trim the fat” from overindulgence
18 Jul 2022 --- Herbalife Nutrition is launching Fat Release, a supplement to help consumers who may overindulge during the week to achieve and maintain their health and lifestyle goals.
“Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can be challenging, and we are committed to providing consumers with convenient, on-the-go options to keep them on track,” says Ibi Montesino, senior VP, managing director at Herbalife Nutrition.“ This product helps consumers plan for those occasions when they have limited access to healthy foods.”
Herbalife states the product will be of benefit to those who overindulge in unhealthy, fatty foods, which it says the average person does about three times a week. Eating a diet high in fats has been associated with several non-communicable diseases, including heart disease and other negative health effects linked to obesity.
Eyeing ingredient potential
Fat Release is formulated with litramine, an ingredient derived from the prickly pear and is a patented cactus fiber ingredient that helps trim the fat from food, the company notes.
The new product comes in a powdered stick form and can be mixed with cold water or eaten straight out of the pack. It comes in a “fruit twist” flavor and is currently available in the US and Puerto Rico.
Innova Market Insight recently revealed that 41% of consumers consider flavor a top priority, and many prefer fruit and especially citrus flavors in sports and health nutrition drinks.
Weight loss, health gain
Though Herbalife states this new product is not a “stand-alone weight loss product,” it is also intended for those who lead healthy lifestyles but want to occasionally indulge in fatty foods during meals.
It notes that this type of indulgence can negatively affect consumers’ health-related goals. Moreover, it stresses that Litramine, helps to “trim” fats from foods.
“Taking a stick pack after each meal or snack that contains fats, up to three times a day, can reduce fat calorie intake to support weight loss in overweight people who already incorporate healthy nutrition and moderate-intensity exercise,” explains Dr. Simon Sum, director, North America scientific affairs, Herbalife Nutrition.
