Health Canada Approves Sunfiber as a Dietary Fiber Source
4 June 2013 --- Health Canada has approved Taiyo’s ingredient, Sunfiber, for use as a dietary fiber source. The approval of this fiber source was based on clearly demonstrated safety and clinical evidence that the addition of Sunfiber (Partially Hydrolyzed Guar Gum) to foods, results in more than 20 percent reduction in postprandial blood glucose levels.
“While there have been a select number of soluble fibers recently approved by Health Canada, Sunfiber is a galactomannan-based fiber (as opposed to a sugar/starch based fiber) that allows product formulators to bring the benefits of this truly regulating fiber to consumers who are looking for a unique, more comfortable fiber source,” said Taiyo’s Vice Preside nt Dr. Lekh Juneja. “Its reduced incidence of gas and bloating, as well as its healthy satiety effect, offers consumers the real benefits of dietary fiber consumption, without the discomfort people commonly experience when trying to increase their daily fiber intake.”
Sunfiber is a soluble, transparent and tasteless dietary fiber. It is low in viscosity, improves stability of beverages at various pH levels, and is resistant to heat, acid and digestive enzymes.
