GanedenBC30 Adopted in First Probiotic Launched in HPP Juice
21 Feb 2014 --- Ganeden Biotech has announced that GanedenBC30 (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086) will be the first probiotic in an HPP product with the launch of Garden of Flavor’s cold-pressed, organic juices. High Pressure Pasteurization (HPP) is the process of applying extremely high pressure to a food or beverage that has been filled and sealed in its finished package, thereby eliminating harmful bacteria, yeast and molds without exposing the product to heat that can damage flavor, color and nutritional value.
Erin Miller at Ganeden told FoodIngredientsFirst: “The claims they are making are ‘refreshing tonic containing immune supporting probiotics to promote digestive health and balance.’ We always recommend to our partners to keep it simple when making claims. We have data to support that GanedenBC30 supports immune and digestive health.”
“So far this is our only partner using the HPP process but we’re hoping to grow that part of the business since we’re the only probiotic shown to survive through the HPP process,” she added.
HPP can extend the shelf life of the juice up to ten times and enables wider distribution in order to make the juices available wherever refrigerated juices are offered.to the inactivation of yeast, mold, and more at: http://allnaturalfreshness.com/hpp/#sthash.TMPajJaM.dpuf
“GanedenBC30 can remain viable through HPP providing beverage manufacturers the opportunity to fortify juices with a hearty dose of probiotics in formats that otherwise would be impossible,” said Michael Bush, Senior Vice President of Ganeden Biotech. “Garden of Flavor will be the first HPP juice to contain GanedenBC30 and we are excited to be a part of this exciting innovation in functional beverages.”
Garden of Flavor’s new probiotic line of juices is now available for purchase in stores. Three of the seven Garden of Flavor juices; Green Harmony, Appleade and Turmeric Tonic, have each been fortified with one billion CFU of GanedenBC30.
• Green Harmony: The ultimate probiotic “green juice” that boasts cucumber, celery, kale, spinach and other dark, leafy greens along with a touch of apple.
• Appleade: Delicious combination of apples, lemons, ginger and now includes immune supporting probiotics.
• Turmeric Tonic: A completely new version of the original refreshing and slightly spicy juice, Lemon Pepp; which along with the probiotic, GanedenBC30, contains turmeric, ginger and mint. This unique and incredibly beneficial juice is also included in the six-pack, one day cleanse.
“We are constantly searching the world for the best ingredients to use when preparing our juices; and after learning more about GanedenBC30, it was obvious to us that offering a variety of our organic, cold-pressed juices with the probiotic GanedenBC30 would add even more benefits to the recipes that our customers already enjoy,” said Lisa Reed, founder of Garden of Flavor. “While speaking with Ganeden we learned how important probiotics are to improving people’s lives, and knew immediately it was a wonderful fit and balance for Garden of Flavor.”
