Diana Launches Superfoods for Sports Performance and Eye Health
07 May 2014 --- Functional ingredients expert Diana has announced the launch of two new superfoods at the Vitafoods event in Geneva, Switzerland. The two premium ingredients are dedicated to sports performance and eye health.
Eyesee is an innovative extract made from carrots that provides natural beta carotene (pro vitamin A) and anthocyanins. Eyesee is associated to an approved health claim related to the maintenance of normal vision, according to the company. The product has a range of health benefits including the ability to improve vision adaptation, enhance capillary circulation and maintain normal vision.
“Eyesee is suitable for use within dietary supplements,” the company’s communications manager, Mylene Esnault told FoodIngredientsFirst. “Its most useful health benefit is the maintenance of normal vision due to its content of betacarotene from carrots (which is an official approved health claim in Europe), but also its anthocyanin content which provides good microcirculation.”
The second launch is Beet’4Perf, which makes use of Diana’s expertise in the production of beetroot concentrates and dry extracts. Diana offers a specific beetroot ingredient with this new solution that is natural and allows sports enthusiasts to increase their physical performance through blood pressure reduction and muscle efficiency improvement.
The health benefits include the ability to reduce blood pressure during exercise, decrease pulmonary oxygen uptake during sub-maximal exercise and to boost endurance and performance.
“Beet’4Perf can be added to beverages, cereal bars, dietary supplements or liquid shots,” Esnault explained. “There is a strong trend for natural solutions dedicated to sports nutrition. It is not only a product which helps sportsmen while they are exercising. Our product, derived from beetroot, helps sports enthusiasts naturally both during and after they have exercised.”
Diana Food Division provides high added value natural ingredients to its customers in the agri-food industry around the world. Products are processed into concentrates, powders, flakes and pieces from a natural range of fruit, vegetables, meat and seafood.
