18 May 2017 --- Nearly 32 million adults in the US consumed more than twice the number of drinks considered binge drinking on at least one occasion over the past year, according to a survey. This higher level of drinking is associated with increased health and safety risks, with the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) noting that of the nearly 90,000 people who die from alcohol each year, more than half, or 50,000, die from injuries and overdoses associated with high blood alcohol levels.
