Monteloeder showcases Eternalyoung ingredient at Vitafoods Europe 2022, expands to China
16 May 2022 --- Global provider of botanical ingredients for dietary supplements Monteloeder is expanding its Eternalyoung ingredient to the Chinese market and showcasing it at Vitafoods Europe 2022. NutritionInsight speaks with Ignacio Cartagena, CEO of Monteloeder, from the show floor, who details the ingredient’s potential to inhibit indications of skin aging at a cellular level.
The patent-pending botanical blend is comprised of Centella asiatica, Cistanche sp., pomegranate and sweet orange extracts that have been specially designed to delay the skin aging process at the cellular level targeting the cell telomeres and cell senescence, which give skin their youthful experience.
“This year, we are showcasing mainly branded ingredients – one is Eternalyoung. This ingredient is a combination of different botanical extracts. It focuses on anti-aging as an anti-aging pro-specific anti-aging product. It is also suitable for the beauty category because it also helps to reduce wrinkles.”
Monteloeder is planning to launch the product in China: “We have designed this product to go to the Chinese market because there is a concise list of approved botanicals for the food supplements in China. However, these four ingredients are approved there.”
Centella asiatica was previously utilized in Givaudan Active Beauty’s Centella CAST, sourced from green fractionation of the medicinal plant Centella asiatica. The ingredient may restore skin elasticity and firmness lost during pregnancy.
Clinically validated ingredient for the Chinese market
According to Monteloeder, Eternalyoung has been clinically proven to reduce wrinkles and skin roughness and improve skin elasticity and firmness. It is also pegged as beneficial for improving skin thickness, re-densifying the skin, improving skin moisturization and the skin’s barrier function.
Regarding clinical trials for Eternalyoung, Cartagena explains: “In a few months, we will start another clinical trial with solely Asian participants.”
“We are now beginning to promote the product to our customers there and it may take some time to get to the market,” he adds. “However, we hope to bring the product to the Chinese market by the end of this year to the beginning of next year.”
Additionally, Eternalyoung may provide skin with radiance by reducing dark spots and inflammation. The product may help to reduce stress and fatigue and create “overall well-being,” according to the company.
“We have already finished our first clinical trial. The results were very good for anti-aging because it slows the aging process and leads to more radiating skin.”
Logistics, transport, pricing and shipments
Considering industry’s current “upheaval” brought on by the Russia-Ukraine war and inflation, Cartagena explains: “Everybody is affected by the delays in transportation, because of the COVID-19 pandemic situation plus the war, the war effect into their transportation especially if you want to ship goods to Asia is affected,” Cartagena explains.
“Competition is very fierce as sometimes the customers need their goods urgently, so we are trying to increase our stocks to secure some quantities and avoid interruptions in the supply,” he details. “We have very close communication with customers and ask them about their future needs to anticipate orders.”
“We have tried to observe prices, but there is a moment that you are forced to increase; otherwise, you can even lose money. At the beginning of the year, we were forced to increase the price, but we tried to increase the least possible because we didn’t want to affect our customers.”
With regards to energy, Cartagena adds: “In Europe, countries want to go toward clean energy and this is how we have to pay the price for it. So energy costs are not going to be reduced. It’s going to affect inflation. Governments might work on different measures to reduce it although it may take some time.”
Monteloeder previously unveiled its Eternalyoung product that slows down signs of aging at a cellular level at Vitafoods Europe 2021.
The company also released its polyphenol-rich dietary ingredient, Zeropollution, targeting skin aging and oxidative stress signs.
