Sabinsa spotlights merits of black pepper with launch of compendium
20 Jul 2017 --- Sabinsa has published a book on the company’s patented black pepper extract, BioPerine, which is widely used to enhance the bioavailability of other nutrients as well as for its thermo-nutrient properties. The book is a compendium of the knowledge obtained on BioPerine since it was launched two decades ago.
The book, BioPerine – Nature’s Own Super Nutrient, was written by several of the company’s scientists, including Dr. Muhammad Majeed, founder of Sabinsa Corporation.
The company has announced that this book brings together twenty years of scientific validation of the traditionally known medicinal values of black pepper – in particular, its chief chemical constituent piperine – in a systematic and scientific way.
“Although other suppliers have attempted to copy BioPerine, no other black pepper in the world has the scientific validation as presented in this book,” says Shaheen Majeed, President of Sabinsa Worldwide.
“We want scientists and formulators in our industry to access the impressive collection of studies that have been done on Sabinsa's popular BioPerine black pepper extract. Marketing departments can benefit by understanding the potential of these studies' findings, which will also help them develop and substantiate label claims for those using BioPerine,” a spokesperson for the company tells NutritionInsight.
“These studies apply specifically to BioPerine, and should not be considered applicable to generic black pepper extract. Because it's a very widely used ingredient, we believe the example set by Sabinsa's providing a substantial body of science on BioPerine's safety and efficacy is important.”
”Everything known about BioPerine – the making of it, its mechanism of action, its bioavailability enhancement, its various health benefits, its metabolism and long-term safety – is encapsulated in this book,” Majeed adds.
A book launch event was held at the University of Dhaka at which Dr. Majeed presented the first copy of the book to the University’s Vice Chancellor Dr. AAMS Arefin Siddique. The book is being distributed to Sabinsa’s customers and to health writers.
“Sabinsa is providing the book as a gift to customers, trade organizations, editors in our industry, etc.,” the spokesperson says, adding that it can also be purchased on Amazon.
Speaking about the company’s next projects, the spokesperson says, “We're currently gearing up for several product introductions before the year is over, [ranging] from proteins of different natural sources to a liver protection ingredient and several cosmetic ingredients.”
