Olygose Expands its Range of Prebiotic Fibers
21 Apr 2017 --- Natural health ingredients supplier Olygose has announced an agreement with Korean supplier Neo Cremar for the distribution of its organic fructo-oligo-saccharides (FOS) and galacto-oligo-saccharides (GOS). Neo Cremar’s Nature’s Oligo FOS is obtained from organic sugarcane and is suitable for use as a prebiotic in functional foods, dietary supplements and for sugar replacement.
Meanwhile, Nature’s Oligo GOS is a high-purity GOS obtained from organic cow’s milk, with a high content in galactosyl-lactose, a fiber found in breast milk. The company says it shows an excellent ability to stimulate the growth of bifidobacteria and lactobacilli, and it may be beneficial to reinforcing the immune system, preventing gastro-intestinal disorders and alleviating liver cirrhosis.
Oligo was announced as one of the nominees for the 2017 Start-Up Innovation Challenge, following the development of its plant-based alternative to beta-GOS for the infant milk formula market using pea serum alpha-galacto-oligosaccharides (P-GOS).
BeautyOligo, a powder rich in GOS, has also demonstrated benefits on skin health (hydration and wrinkles) at low dosage (2 g/day) in a clinical trial performed in healthy volunteers, the company reported. All these ingredients comply with the European regulation for organic production and are stable, gluten-free, non-GMO and largely available.
“We see huge potential in supplying ingredients that modulate the microbiome. This new deal reinforces our position as a leader in the supply of highly-differentiated prebiotics that match fundamental consumer trends: Neo Cremar’s Organic GOS and FOS perfectly complement our own range of GOS extracted from legumes (AlphaGOS, CravingZ’Gone and P-GOS),” says François Delbaere, CEO of Olygose.
