Arla Foods aims to up UK’s protein intake with launch of new milk
17 Oct 2017 --- Farmer-owned dairy company Arla Foods is to expand its protein range with the launch of Arla Protein Milk in the UK. Arla Foods says the new product continues its innovation in the dairy sector through increasing protein content via everyday dairy products.
“Arla Protein milk works as an easy way to get more protein into consumers’ diet, and doesn’t require big changes in behavior to do so – simply use it where milk is already used,” Steph Barker, brand manager for Arla Protein, tells NutritionInsight. “Arla hopes that the launch will expand the success of the Arla Protein range, which recently saw a 72 per cent increase in year on year retail sales growth.”
Contributing to muscle mass
The fresh milk, which is hitting shelves on October 18, delivers 20g of protein per serving that contributes to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass, the Arla Foods press release notes. Made with simple, natural ingredients, the milk is 30 per cent higher in protein than standard skimmed milk and is fat-free. Arla Foods adds that this makes it an effective way to increase protein intake.
The move to expand Arla Foods’ dairy range comes as the high protein trend continues to move further into the mainstream. Sports nutrition’s broad appeal was recently addressed in the Innova Market Insights webinar, “Understanding Consumer Lifestyles: Plant Power and Active Nutrition.”
Produced from fresh milk, Arla Foods says its Protein Milk “tastes great alone or is perfect added to smoothies and shakes to give your drink a protein boost.”
