New Cardiovascular Health Ingredient Hits Market
28 Sep 2016 --- Frutarom Health BU is set to introduce CitrOliveTM, a patented natural ingredient, which the company claims can support overall cardiovascular health. The ingredient formulation of olive and citrus extracts is backed by extensive research of key phytochemicals, polyphenols and flavonoids.
Due to the ingredients strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity, Frutarom Health BU state that CitrOlive supports overall cardiovascular health and protects against the hardening of the arteries, the underlying cause of most heart problems.
The supplement is also water-soluble meaning it can be combined in functional food and drinks, dietary supplements and nutrition bars.

To prove the associated health claims, the ingredient underwent a double blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial performed at Murcia University (UCAM), Spain. The participants received 500mg/day of CitrOlive or a matching placebo for a period of 90 days. When compared with the placebo, the CitrOlive subjects showed a significant drop in triglycerides and oxidized LDL levels, both considered prominent risk factors for cardiovascular disorders.
Additional tests have demonstrated the overall safety of the product. An acute toxicity study revealed that even when ingested in high doses, CitrOlive is safe for consumption.
