Kyowa Hakko’s Glutathione Rolls Out in Europe
23 Mar 2017 --- Kyowa Hakko is expanding its premium branded ingredient, Setria Glutathione, into the European markets, it has announced. The move comes after the company has maintained a successful presence in the US and Asian regions by marketing the product as a key antioxidant ingredient.
Now available to the European dietary supplement market, Kyowa Hakko hopes the expansion will present more consumers with a wider range of options when it comes to supplementing with glutathione.
“Consumers are looking for scientifically tested ingredients that they can trust,” Oksana Ritchie European Marketing Manager of Kyowa Hakko, tells NutritionInsight.
“Consumers care about their well-being and understand the importance of immune health. They are willing to invest into prevention rather than treatment of deceases.”
The Market for Glutathione
Ritchie explains that the major health categories that are important to consumers are immune and cardiovascular health.
“Kyowa performed these studies with Setria Glutathione. One of studies showed the boosting of Nitric Oxide level which in its turn supports cardiovascular health and sports nutrition.”
Although glutathione is an antioxidant present in almost all cells of the body, Ritchie highlights the general, yet important role that supplementation of the ingredient can play in peoples lives.
“With age and poor diet glutathione becomes depleted and protecting ourselves against the damaging effects of free radicals becomes increasingly difficult,” she says.
“Diminishing levels of glutathione are associated with age-related diseases like cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. Many chronic and age-related diseases are thought to benefit from therapies that boost glutathione levels.”
“Even for individuals who are generally healthy, the body’s need for glutathione increases at certain times and under certain conditions. The demand for glutathione increases, for example, in response to stress, weight gain, poor lifestyle choices, and normal aging.”
“Glutathione can also become depleted by increased exposure to medications, toxins, heavy metals, solvents, pesticides, or alcohol.”
“We do believe that any consumer that does not consume a healthy diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables does need additional support would be a target consumer.”
“There is a wide variety of common conditions that deplete glutathione, therefore, most adults can certainly benefit from increasing glutathione consumption, either through diet, supplementation or both.
Patented Fermentation Process
“Our ingredient is manufactured using a patented fermentation process without any animal or human origin raw materials,” Richie explains.
“Setria is a pure form of glutathione, it is vegetarian, additive-and-allergen free ingredient. Setria has been clinically tested and has been shown to increase the levels of glutathione in the blood when taken orally. The increase in glutathione levels supports multiple body functions as well as immune support.”
“Kyowa is offering various brand marketing support to supplement companies helping them to create innovative products and to benefit from the growing awareness of our brand.”
