American Heart Association data illustrates that nearly half of the US population suffers from high blood pressure. Sodium intake is one of the major factors known to increase blood pressure, and the majority of sodium consumption comes from processed foods. For food manufacturers, this may be a signal to improve the marketing of low sodium products and to introduce new options that meet both dietary needs and flavor preferences.
