01 May 2017 --- Taiyo has announced that its patented, 100 percent pure L-isomer-theanine, has been Non-GMO Project Verified. This Non-GMO Project Verification validates the product’s quality and its compliance with rigorous best practices for GMO avoidance, including segregation and traceability to prevent contamination. “There is a significant and growing consumer demand for non-GMO ingredients. Taiyo is proud to achieve Non-GMO Project Verification, because this is North America’s most trusted and recognized seal for GMO avoidance,” says Scott Smith, Vice President of Taiyo International.

“The Non-GMO Project looks at the entire supply chain, which provides further validation of Suntheanine’s quality and the integrity of our manufacturing process,” Smith adds.

Most of the major research studies on the health benefits of L-theanine were conducted using Suntheanine. This clinical research suggests Suntheanine helps promote mental focus and clarity during the day while helping to improve sleep quality at night. Additional human clinical research suggests that Suntheanine may have application in diminishing normal symptoms of premenstrual syndrome (PMS), improving learning performance, heightening mental acuity, promoting concentration, reducing negative side effects of caffeine and supporting the immune system.

“With Sunfiber, Sunphenon and Matcha, Suntheanine becomes the fourth series of Taiyo ingredients to achieve Non-GMO Project Verified status. We stand ready to assist all of our customers with getting their product certified, so that they may also use this Verification in their product labeling and marketing,” Smith adds.

"At the core of Taiyo’s philosophy, we strive to offer innovative ingredients derived from natural sources that help to further develop the body’s own ability to protect and manage health. Focusing on single active ingredients, that on their own stand up to the demands for efficacy, compliance and safety, naturally leads to clean label options for our customers," Smith tells NutritionInsight.

Suntheanine is exclusively represented in the US by NutriScience Innovations.

A pioneer in the manufacture, research, development and application of green tea and green tea extracts, the mission of Taiyo is to bring reliability, safety and high quality to all consumers of green tea around the world.

Taiyo found this relaxation effect of green tea to be due to the presence of the amino acid L-theanine. Suntheanine is produced via a fermentation process that mimics the natural process in green tea leaves resulting in a 100% pure L-isomer-theanine. It is not an extract of green tea, but rather is a patented enzymatic fermentation process using the amino acids ethylamine and L-glutamine that assures an isomerically pure L-theanine. Human clinical trials have shown Suntheanine to promote an alert state of relaxation without drowsiness.

Taiyo also produce SubFiber, this formula produces no visible effect on your product but significantly boosts its health benefits. This all-natural, soluble dietary fiber improves functionality in foods and beverages. It delivers high fiber content and exhibits excellent stability with respect to pH, heat and freeze/thaw conditions. Sunfiber is clinically proven to lower glycemic index, improve mineral absorption and maintain digestive health.
