Athlete complaints of contaminated ingredients could be “valid”

25 Jul 2017 --- It is possible that complaints about contamination of the ingredients used in athletes’ dietary supplements have some merit. This is according to Lukas Vaclavik, a Staff Scientist at Covance Food Solutions, which is a LabCorp business. Vaclavik notes that dietary supplements that were taken by athletes who have been banned from competing could conceivably have contained products that were not listed on product labels.

BCAAs taken in isolation ineffective for muscle building

17 Jul 2017 --- A new study from the University of Stirling has found that popular muscle building supplements, known as branched-chain amino acids (BCAA) are ineffective when taken in isolation. The study shows that while BCAA supplements do stimulate the muscle building response in individuals after they lift weights, other muscle-building supplements are far more effective.

Arla Foods Launches New Whey Protein Solution

15 Jun 2017 --- Arla Foods Ingredients has launched a new whey protein solution that the companys says ensures that the protein bars it is used in stay soft for at least a year. Nearly half of US consumers (45%) purchased a high-protein bar in the past month, according to research. However, due to textural deterioration during shelf life – a common issue with high-protein snack bars – it’s likely that many of the bars had lost their soft and chewy texture by the time they were eaten.
