This was in comparison with participants who were given maltodextrin, a high glycemic carbohydrate, before exercising. The study's findings could hold potential for the use of Palatinose as a sports nutrition ingredient.

Lallemand sports nutrition probiotic granted Canadian health claims

24 Apr 2018 --- Lallemand Health Solutions (LHS) has announced a regulatory breakthrough regarding Health Canada granting two new health claims for the probiotic strain, Lactobacillus helveticus Laftil 10 for sports nutrition. Claims such as “promotes gastrointestinal health in physically active adults” and “helps reduce the incidence of cold-like symptoms in adults with exercise-induced stress” are now available for the probiotic strain.

US FDA moves to ban bulk sale of concentrated caffeine products to consumers 

16 April 2018 --- The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued guidance declaring that dietary supplements containing pure or highly concentrated caffeine, in powder or liquid forms, are unlawful when sold in bulk quantities directly to consumers. The agency notes that it is prepared to take immediate steps to begin removing such “dangerous bulk products.”

One in ten Greek teen athletes using contaminated supplements, study finds

16 Apr 2018 --- One in ten adolescent athletes are using nutritional supplements contaminated with doping substances, a study has found. The study, published in Food and Chemical Toxicology, revealed a high overall usage of supplement products amongst adolescent athletes in Athens, with proteins/amino acids and vitamins leading the way in popularity. However, the items, often purchased online, were contaminated with banned substances at a rate of nine percent.

“Carb Blocker Capsules”: Protein World's marketing breaches EU code, UK agency rules

23 Mar 2018 --- The UK Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has ruled that the marketing of “Carb Blocker Capsules” from Protein World breaches EU regulation health codes. The “Carb Blocker Capsules” were promoted via social media but two complaints challenged whether the capsules could, in fact, stop unused sugars from carbs being stored as fat in the body, as claimed. ASA stated that although the product followed certain health regulations, the accompanying market and naming were ruled to not adequately reflect the real nature of the product, and therefore, were in breach of the code.

The "clean" certification comes from a third party, known as Informed Sport, who have 54 years’ experience in anti-doping control.
